About the Role:

The Forklift Operator - Shipping plays a critical role in ensuring the efficient and safe movement of goods within the shipping department. This position is responsible for operating forklifts to load, unload, and transport materials and products to designated areas, supporting the overall logistics and supply chain operations. The role demands strict adherence to safety protocols to prevent accidents and maintain a secure working environment. The operator will collaborate closely with shipping coordinators and warehouse staff to meet shipping schedules and maintain inventory accuracy. Ultimately, this position contributes significantly to the timely and accurate fulfillment of customer orders and the smooth functioning of the shipping process.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Valid forklift operator certification or license as required by OSHA standards.
• Proven experience operating forklifts in a warehouse or shipping environment.
• Ability to read and understand shipping documents and labels.
• Strong attention to safety procedures and protocols.
• Physical ability to lift heavy objects and stand for extended periods.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with warehouse management systems (WMS) or inventory tracking software.
• Previous experience in a shipping or logistics role within a fast-paced environment.
• Basic mechanical skills for minor forklift maintenance and troubleshooting.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Familiarity with OSHA regulations and compliance standards.

Responsibilities:

• Operate forklifts and other material handling equipment to load and unload shipping containers, trucks, and trailers.
• Transport goods safely and efficiently within the warehouse and shipping areas, ensuring proper stacking and placement.
• Inspect forklifts daily to ensure they are in safe working condition and report any maintenance needs promptly.
• Follow all safety guidelines and company policies to maintain a hazard-free work environment.
• Coordinate with shipping and receiving teams to verify shipment contents and documentation for accuracy.
• Assist in organizing and maintaining the shipping area to optimize workflow and space utilization.
• Report any discrepancies, damages, or delays to supervisors immediately to facilitate timely resolution.
