Registered Nurse (RN) | Intermediate Care
Location: Rapid City, SD

Pay: $2,179 per week

About the Position

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a 56-bed PCU/Telemetry unit for adult patients presenting with diagnoses including CHF, DKA, sepsis, arrhythmias, respiratory failure, GI bleed, pulmonary emboli, COPD, and related conditions
• Perform cardiac rhythm interpretation, IV starts, blood product administration, CIWA protocol management, and drain/tube management
• Manage vasoactive and cardiac drip titration including Heparin, Insulin, Cardizem, Amiodarone, and Levophed; perform insulin drip management for both DKA and non-DKA patients
• Perform indwelling and straight catheter insertion and management, continuous bladder irrigation, and chest tube maintenance
• Document accurately and efficiently using Epic EMR; attend required pre-shift huddles at designated times before each shift
• Participate in weekend rotation (approximately every other weekend including Friday, Saturday, and Sunday) and every other holiday during the contracted period; may be expected to precept students and must maintain 90% compliance with monthly Pre/Post Pain Scoring audits

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license issued by or eligible for endorsement with the South Dakota Board of Nursing
• Minimum 1 year of PCU or Telemetry RN experience required; candidates with fewer than 1.5 years of experience may require additional approval
• First-time travelers considered with greater than 2 years of RN experience
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Must reside at least 100 miles from any facility location to be eligible; previous permanent staff must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
• Previous permanent staff at this facility must wait 1 year before returning in a travel capacity

• Experience with Epic, Alaris, and Omnicell systems strongly preferred
• Comfort working in a team nursing model alongside LPN staff with task-sharing within scope of practice
• Experience with esmolol or other beta-blocker/antihypertensive drips (training may be available for qualified candidates)
• Experience floating to ICU, ED, Ortho/Neuro/Surgical, Oncology, Heart and Vascular, or Observation units within scope of practice

• Robust unit support structure including 24/7 charge nurse coverage, hospitalist presence, respiratory therapy, centralized telemetry monitoring, phlebotomy services, and a violent incident response team
• Free on-site parking available; structured orientation includes classroom/online education plus precepted 12-hour shifts to support a smooth transition onto the unit
